The Ikuchi Sea Serpent is a massive sea creature that lives in the oceans surrounding Shinkami Dao. While it's exact size has never been measured, eye witness accounts state the serpent can take up to three days to pass its entire length and it's mouth can swallow ships whole. Despite it's size however it is not an aggressive creature, lazily circling the islands with its mouth open to scoop up shoals of small fish. It spends most of it's time on the surface and rarely ever dives, this is most likely due to it needing the sun to regulate it's body temperature. The most unique thing about this creature is the secretion of oil from it's skin, this is done as a way to keep it's scales clean as well as prevent any parasites or other smaller creatures to latch on to it. The oil floats on the surface and trails behind the creature as it swims. On it's own it is used as a salve against infections. However with the rising war, it has been discovered that by mixing this oil with other ingredients it has been able to produce a highly flammable and water resistant flame now called Dragon's Breath. As a result, demand for the oil has skyrocketed and various ship crews now actively chase the creature's wake, skimming the surface for it's oil to sell. While Ikuchi is not a dangerous creature, it's size makes it unintentionally a hazard. A single flick of it's tail can cause massive rogue waves that can break or capsize ships. Bumping against it's body can cause massive gouges in hulls as it's scales are so thick and if a ship were to get in front of it, it could easily be swallowed accidentally.
